Episode 99: It Is What It Was

Honk Honk! The MOTHERSHIP has landed and it is time for another edition of the 6:05 Superpodcast!  The Great Brian Last is joined by popular co-host Scott Cornish for this packed show, featuring:

– Lucha Libre historian Fredo Esparza joins the show to discuss the life & career of Silver King!  We hear about Silver King breaking into Lucha as a part of a famous wrestling family, Los Cowboys with El Texano, being an EMLL star while AAA is on fire, his WCW run, Nacho Libre & more! 

– Chad Austin is here this week to talk about his run in ECW!  We hear about the original plans for his 1994 push, Chad’s memories of other wrestlers from ECW’s early days, as well as the infamous New Jack incident!  Chad also talks about how he broke into the business, the influence of Eddie Gilbert on his in-ring style, the 1990’s Maryland independent scene, tape trading & more!

– Scott Teal is back with our annual State Of Crowbar Press segment!  We hear about all the books Scott has recently published, as well as what is on the docket for the rest of the year!  Scott also talks about his involvement with the Cauliflower Alley Club and this year’s CAC convention!

– Roman Gomez shares the crazy story of Marti Funk defacing his autographed Dory Funk Jr. card!  Roman goes through all the details of this now notorious incident!  We also hear about what it was like growing up as a fan in Las Vegas!

– We have more classic audio this week from Philadelphia radio, with Captain Lou Albano & Don Muraco appearing on Rod Luck’s radio show on April 26, 1983!

Episode 92: Lords Of The Ring

Call Somebody!  The MOTHERSHIP has landed!  Join The Great Brian Last for this packed edition of the 6:05 Superpodcast, Featuring:

– Jeff Oddo joins the show to talk about Lords Of The Ring, wrestling’s first commercial home video.  Jeff discusses his background and how he ended up at Independent Media working on a wrestling project.  We hear all about how the content was gathered for this video, and the producers’ dealings with the WWF, Jim Crockett, Fritz Von Erich and Verne Gagne.  We also hear about how London Publishing & Pro Wrestling Illustrated became involved, as well as what happens when you go out drinking with Gordon Solie!

– Longtime referee Jim Molineaux joins the show to discuss a range of topics, including Joel Goodheart’s TWA, where Jim started out.  Jim talks about the friendship he developed with Buddy Rogers, and what happened when Goodhearted folded.  We hear about the early days of ECW, as well as Jim’s memories of the night ECW & XPW clashed in Los Angeles!

– John Hitchcock and Front Row Section D returns this week, with John sharing his memories of Wrestler War ’90 and the fallout from his “We Have Herd Enough!” sign.  John also talks about meeting and talking comic books with Jerry Garcia!

– The late Don Leo Jonathan is remembered this week, as we play some previously unaired audio from earlier in 2018 where Don Leo talks about speaking Yiddish!

– Pandemonium Theatre debuts, with the Superpodcast beginning it’s series of readings of the Vince McMahon biopic script Pandemonium Inc!  It’s as awful as you’ve imagined.
