Episode 96: Good Looking Wool

– Kevin Sullivan spends a few minutes with us this episode to discuss Knoxville wrestling!  Kevin shares his thoughts on the evolution of wrestling from John Cazana to Ron Fuller, as well as what he observed and heard about the Knoxville 5’s attempt to steal Southeastern Championship Wrestling!  Kevin also talks about his time in San Francisco, Roy Shire, and Bob Roop’s attempt to steal the territory!

– Pandemonium Theatre returns with another reading of the Vince McMahon biopic script, featuring this week’s cast of Pandemonium Players!

– TGBL & Mike Sempervive discuss various topics, including wrestling in Baltimore, 1980’s wrestling music videos, Bruno Sammartino’s last match & more! Plus the Top Ten returns!

– Fumi Saito is back to week with another look at the history of Japanese wrestling, focusing on the professional rivalry between Giant Baba & Antonio Inoki.  Fumi discusses the various world title wins that Baba & Inoki had in the 1970’s, covering the NWA, NWF, WWF & PWF championships.  We hear about what the reaction to the Ali-Inoki match was in Japan, and whether it helped or hurt the business.  We also hear about some of the early talent jumps in the promotional war that would engulf the 1980’s in Japan, as well as a few words from Fumi about Bruiser Brody!

– In The News with Jim Cornette returns this week, looking at both newsworthy and ridiculous stories from wrestling’s past.  Hear about Jimmy Snuka, Sunny Beach, Tojo Yamamoto, Sandor Szabo, fans getting hit, lawsuits & more!

– Pandemonium Theatre is back, with narrator Lou Kipilman & the Pandemonium Players, including several special guests!

– We remember Don Leo Jonathan again this week, as we play more audio of the Mormon Giant.  This week we hear about Don Leo’s memories of Wild Bull Curry!

Episode 93: Selling Cups

– Peter Birkholz returns to the show to discuss Jose Lothario and his importance to Houston wrestling.  Peter talks about what kind of guy Jose was behind the scenes, as well as how Jose helped break Gino Hernandez in and get him over to the hometown fans.  Peter also shares his memories about what the Houston office was hearing and thinking in 1972 when the Georgia war broke out, as well as Dory Funk Jr.’s 1973 tractor accident right before he was to drop the NWA title to Jack Brisco!

– The Tennessee Stud Ron Fuller, host of the Studcast, returns to the show to spend a few minutes talking about Jose Lothario and his memories of when Jose and his wife lived with the Fullers!

– Jeff Steele joins the show for a fun talk covering a number of topics, centering around Jeff’s time as a ring announcer in Jackson, Mississippi.  Jeff recalls when the Culkins broke away from Leroy McGuirk, as well as some of the talent they pushed as stars.  Jeff also shares his knowledge about Catsaboulos The Welcher and much more!

– Al Getz returns to the show this week to discuss his new project, Charting There Territories.  Al explains the concept he has come up with, which develops a statistic based on where a wrestler is historically booked on a card. Al talks about the development of SPOT and how he thinks this could be applied in the future to wrestling research!

– The Golden Boy Jerry Grey is back this week, sharing his memories of Billy Jack Haynes, who he worked with in Florida and Portland.  We find out what Jerry thinks about the tales of Billy Jack’s side work in the 1980’s, as well as what happened when a jealous babyface stomped Billy Jack’s hat in the locker room!

– Pandemonium Theatre returns this week, with a special guest joining the Pandemonium Players!

– Jeff Oddo joins the show to talk about Lords Of The Ring, wrestling’s first commercial home video.  Jeff discusses his background and how he ended up at Independent Media working on a wrestling project.  We hear all about how the content was gathered for this video, and the producers’ dealings with the WWF, Jim Crockett, Fritz Von Erich and Verne Gagne.  We also hear about how London Publishing & Pro Wrestling Illustrated became involved, as well as what happens when you go out drinking with Gordon Solie!

– Longtime referee Jim Molineaux joins the show to discuss a range of topics, including Joel Goodheart’s TWA, where Jim started out.  Jim talks about the friendship he developed with Buddy Rogers, and what happened when Goodhearted folded.  We hear about the early days of ECW, as well as Jim’s memories of the night ECW & XPW clashed in Los Angeles!

– John Hitchcock and Front Row Section D returns this week, with John sharing his memories of Wrestler War ’90 and the fallout from his “We Have Herd Enough!” sign.  John also talks about meeting and talking comic books with Jerry Garcia!

– The late Don Leo Jonathan is remembered this week, as we play some previously unaired audio from earlier in 2018 where Don Leo talks about speaking Yiddish!

– Pandemonium Theatre debuts, with the Superpodcast beginning it’s series of readings of the Vince McMahon biopic script Pandemonium Inc!  It’s as awful as you’ve imagined.
