THE MOTHERSHIP!  The 6:05 Superpodcast is back with another packed episode!  Join The Great Brian Last, with Jeff Bowdren in the co-host chair, for this “oh criminy” inducing show, featuring:

– Bertrand Hebert returns to the show to discuss his new book, our Book Of The Week, Mad Dog: The Maurice Vachon Story, out now on ECW Press!  Bertrand talks about Maurice’s early days in Montreal, his street brawls and amateur wrestling achievements, as well as Maurice’s later success in his home town.  We hear about the development of the Mad Dog character and the impact he had on the AWA, Montreal and Portland.  Bertrand also talks about how Maurice helped many legendary wrestlers early in their career.  A fun and informative look at one of wrestling’s all time greats!

– Stan Saxon, the man behind the mask of Brother Midnight, joins the show to discuss his career and the creation of his popular gimmick.  Stan talks about the scene he broke into in Canada and the injury that led him to put on the mask, baby!  We will hear about Brother Midnight’s famed programs & promos with The Tulip, The Sassy Man, and Sweet Daddy Caddy!  Stan also talks about his post-Midnight gimmick of Dr. X and gives an example of one of his promos.  A really cool look at a popular Superpodcast figure!

Also, TGBL & Jeff discuss the Road Warriors, Buddy Landel, as well as Jeff’s new podcast – Breaking Kayfabe with Jeff Bowdren.  Plus the Tom Robinson Medical Update, Hot Dog, the Handsome Boogie Man & much more!

Episode 63: Bowdren The Booker

The Superpodcast is back with it’s longest episode ever!  Join The Great Brian Last and this week’s co-host Jeff Bowdren, author of Breaking Kayfabe: Dinner with the Legends of Wrestling, for a ride of the Mothership.  This episode features:

Part two of our discussion with The Grappler!  In this installment, Lynn Denton tells us about how he was paired with Tony Anthony to form both The Grapplers and the Dirty White Boys.  We talk about their runs in Southwest, Memphis and Mid South.  Lynn also shares his memories of booking in Kansas City, the scariness of Killer Karl Kox, riding with Rick Rude and the death of Gino Hernandez.  As always with The Grappler, it’s a fun and informative talk!

– Sportscaster John WIlsbach joins the show to discuss a WWF charity show he brought to his high school in March of 1983.  This is a cool look into how schools worked with the WWF to put on shows shortly before the company expanded nationally.  John shares the story of how this show came to take place, which was during the height of Jimmy Snuka’s popularity.  John also recites the Don Muraco and Lou Albano promos that were sent to the school to promote the event!

– Dolph Ramseur of Ramseur Records joins the show to discuss growing up in the Carolinas watching Mid Atlantic Wrestling and why he chose to be the first sponsor of The Superpodcast!

– TGBL & Bowdren The Booker talk about name topics, including 1986 UWF, some of wrestling’s most hard hitting angles, mid-1980’s Florida, Ted DiBiase, Tully Blanchard, Lex Luger, the wardrobe of Tommy Rich.  Jeff also talks about his elevator run in with Bull Nakano, his old Observer column and his new book, which is our Book Of The Week!

Episode 56: Roach Clip

The MOTHERSHIP lands for the first time in 2017 with another jam packed episode of the 6:05 Superpodcast!  The Great Brian Last is joined once again by Scott Cornish in the co-host chair for a fun and informative episode, featuring:

– Australian wrestling historian Ed Lock joins the show to discuss Mario Milano and the early days of Jim Barnett’s World Championship Wrestling promotion.  Ed talks about Barnett’s arrival in Australia, and what the wrestling landscape was like at that time.  We hear about Dominic DeNucci, Spiros Arion, Killer Kowalski, Gary Hart, Big Bad John and many other of the biggest stars to land down under.  This is a fascinating look at a territory whose stars many feel don’t get the respect they are due.

– Wrestling Historian Tom Burke is back, this week discussing Dr. Jerry Graham.  Tom was friends with the Doc, so we are able to hear both his knowledge of Graham’s career as well as personal anecdotes.  Tom also shares some great stories about Abe Ford, Tony Santos, The Vachons and more!

– Jeff Bowdren returns for part two of our discussion about the greatest wrestling matches and angles of the 1980’s.  Jeff talks about attending the first Crockett Cup in New Orleans, a wild night out for Terry Gordy in Japan, Giant Baba’s plans for Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen and much more!  Jeff also talks about the territory he grew up watching, Championship Wrestling from Florida, and shines a light on 1982 in the Sunshine State, which was filled with great matches and angles and saw the surprising emergence of David Von Erich as a heel.

– TGBL & Scott talk about a number of topics, including Rogers’ Corner, Bill Dundee’s car, Missy Hyatt, Jimmy Valiant & Big Mama, The Hangman and more!  Plus, Dennis Coralluzzo’s Memphis debut, TRnac, Stuttering Tommy Rich & the Top Ten!
